Information about the visit to polar bear MiKa

  • Animal welfare is always our top priority.
  • Visiting times for the young animals are daily from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm.
  • The area around the enclosure remains cordoned off. However, 50 people are always allowed to enter the area and stay in front of the enclosure for five minutes. Then the area is left again and the next 50 people can enter.
  • We want to give as many people as possible the chance to see the cub. At the same time, we don’t want the area to get too crowded.

Welcome to Karlsruhe Zoological Garden!

Karlsruhe Zoological Garden is a family-friendly, green oasis in the heart of the city. It invites you to spend some time here, relax and do some animal watching. However, the zoo is so much more. It stands for species conservation in our day-by-day activities, research and education. We participate in numerous European and international conservation breeding programmes, thereby creating captive reserve populations for animal species that are sometimes highly endangered out in the wild. In addition, we support many projects for the preservation of biodiversity in the areas of origin – both on our doorstep and worldwide – through our Species Protection Foundation Zoo Karlsruhe. continue reading

We live for species conservation!

In many parts of the world, the interplay between plants, animals and humans is no longer in balance. At numerous levels, the finely-meshed interdependencies in nature are no longer in equilibrium. The role as an ally and mediator in nature and species conservation is becoming increasingly important in the face of environmental degradation and is constantly diminishing
